Fairbanks’ softball team saw its season come to an end on Monday.
The Lady Panthers (8-12) dropped a Division III tournament game at Centerburg by a 7-2 count.
Sarah Writesel took the loss in the pitching circle.
She surrendered nine hits, walked three and struck out five.
Danielle Hoover tallied one hit and drove in a run.
Writesel singled and Hailey Dee doubled for FHS.

Panthers fall
The Fairbanks baseball team slipped to 10-12 on the season with a 2-0 loss at Pleasant (12-6).
Evan Blumenschein was tagged with the loss.
He struck out two and issued a pair of walks.
Grant Rausch, Nathan Combs, Blumenschein and Noah Rausch each hit safely for the Panthers (who will play at Worthington Christian on Wednesday).

JVs fall
The MHS junior varsity baseball squad dropped a 6-4 verdict to Thomas Worthington.
MHS trailed, 4-2, after four innings.
The Monarchs (13-5) tallied one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings.
The Jr. Cardinals plated two runs in the home half of the sixth to secure the victory.
Chase Adkins, Connor Smith and Jarrod Larriuz each had two of the Monarchs’ eight hits.
Tate Martino started on the mound for MHS.
He pitched 2 2/3 innings.
Liam Wilder hurled the final 3 1/3 frames.
