The Fairbanks Lady Panthers rolled to a 47-32 victory over West Liberty-Salem on Tuesday.
FHS led, 6-2, by the end of the opening quarter and took an 18-17 edge at halftime.
Fairbanks clamped down on the defense during the second half.
As a result, the Lady Panthers’ (7-1) lead stood at 31-25 by the end of the third quarter.
Carly Lehman led a trio of FHS cagers in double figures with 16 points.
Macy Miller tallied 13 and Elania Lahmers finished with 11.
Reese Poling scored three, while Kate Ruff and Ellie Carter both tallied two.
Fairbanks will return to action on Saturday by hosting Madison Plains.
Lady Monarchs fall
Marysville’s girls trailed 32-18 at halftime and couldn’t catch up against Dublin Coffman.
The Lady Monarchs slipped to 5-2 with a 51-34 setback.
The Shamrocks held a 16-10 margin after the opening quarter before taking control during the second period.
Coffman’s lead stood at 43-26 by the end of the third period.
Ava Krutowskis led MHS, which will host Thomas Worthington on Friday, with 14 points.
Abri Schmutz tallied eight, while Leah Brown and Alyssa Strahm both scored six.
St. John’s wins
The varsity boys basketball team from St John’s returned to action at home against Cypress Christian.
The Jaguars came out of the gates on fire, pouring in 21 points in the first quarter en route to a 48-33 victory.
Lincoln Thrush and Connor Boyd led the early scoring.
Boyd tallied all nine of his points in the opening stanza, while Thrush scored 10 of his game-high 17.
The Jaguars had some extra motivation for this contest, as it was originally suspended last week with a 22-21 score after Jackson Burns broke his arm on a drive to the basket against the same Cardinals.
The Jags left no doubt on the restarted contest as they never trailed.
St. John’s led 21-4 after the first quarter, 31-12 at halftime and 40-24 after three quarters.
Mac Rausch chipped in six points, while Reid Phelps, Jackson Firestone and Peter Zink all scored four.
Cody Gallmeyer and Noah Burns both scored two.
The Jaguars (1-0) will travel to Bunsold Middle School today for a 6:15 p.m. tipoff against the Monarchs.
