The Marysville school district has received nearly an additional 30 applicants for the position of high school athletic director.
The job will become vacant when current AD Ryan Walker becomes – pending approval by the board of education – the school’s new director of operations.
Scott Forney, who is a science teacher at Bunsold Middle School and the former head boys basketball coach at MHS, is one of the candidates who applied before Tuesday’s deadline.
Another candidate is current Triad High school athletic director-dean of students Gary Davis.
Davis is also the head baseball coach for the Cardinals.
Additional candidates from the surrounding area include Jordan Blackburn, the head boys basketball coach at Delaware Hayes High School; Donald Burroughs, dean of students at Delaware Hayes; Heath O’Neal, an athletic director with the Dublin City Schools; and Cobin Wilhelm, director of athletics and operations at Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Schools.
District officials have stated that the entire list of candidates, which includes more than 60 names, will be pared down to approximately 10-15 for interviews that are scheduled to begin next week.
School officials hope to name the new athletic director by the end of the month.
