Marysville’s boys placed as the runner-up and the Lady Monarchs tied for fourth during the Gary Smith Invitational track and field meet.
Competition was held at Thomas Worthington High School.
The host Cardinals won the boys meet with 136 points.
Marysville tallied 89, followed by Dublin Coffman-85, Worthington Kilbourne-70, Bellefontaine-62, Granville-57, Bishop Watterson-44, Dublin Scioto-39, River View-31, Pickerington Central-26, Teays Valley-22, Chillicothe-16, Northland-15 and Whetstone-nine.
Granville took top honors in the girls meet with 102 points.
Bishop Watterson placed second with 96, followed by Worthington Kilbourne-74, Marysville-73, Thomas Worthington-73, Big Walnut-70, Bellefontaine-51, Dublin Coffman-47, Dublin Scioto-22, Whetstone-21, Chillicothe-18, Teays Valley–18, Pickerington Central-15, Northland-14, Central Crossing-three and River View-three.

“Overall, the team did a great job competing in a meet that simulated postseason competition,” said Monarch head coach Luke Sundermeier.
“The boys did a great job of scoring points and we are beginning to put things together for the postseason,” he said. “The girls were missing several key contributors (due to a soccer tournament), but rose to the occasion and competed hard.
“Our sprints group is making progress and the distance crew is racing hard on tired legs as they prep for later meets,” he said. “May is an exciting time of year and the team is ready for big goals.”
