Marysville’s varsity softball team moved a game ahead of Upper Arlington in the Ohio Capital Conference Central Division standings on Monday.
The Lady Monarchs (16-6 overall) improved to 7-1 in the division with a 7-5 triumph at UA.
The Golden Bears slipped to 7-2 in the conference with the setback.
Upper Arlington held a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
MHS tallied one run in both the second and third and added five over the course of the fifth and sixth.
Marysville held a 7-3 lead and held off UA, which tallied two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Abby Gindlesberger won the game in relief of starter Jewely Livingston.
Livingston was roughed up for three hits and a trio of earned runs in one-third of an inning.
Gindlesberger finished the game and scattered four hits.
Gindlesberger also had a big day at the plate with a couple of hits and three RBIs.
Leah Potter and Emily Daniel each had two hits.
Livingston drove in a run with a base hit.
The Lady Monarchs are scheduled to host Dublin Coffman today.
The two teams are tied at the top of the Central Division.

The Marysville JV squad dropped a 7-4 verdict to UA.
Jillian Smith, Bre Ortman and Cassie Van Dyke each had two hits.

Christian pitches MHS to win
Jack Christian picked up the victory as Marysville’s baseball squad (11-9) rolled past Hilliard Davidson by a 9-2 count.
Christian allowed seven hits, but kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard until the home half of the seventh.
The Monarchs will host Westland on Wednesday.

Panthers fall
Fairbanks’ baseball team dropped a 6-1 verdict to West Jefferson.
The Panthers’ (10-7) lone run came in the bottom of the seventh.
Mason Cushman started on the mound and took the loss for the Panthers, who will host West Liberty today.
Weston Lorenz pitched in relief.
They combined to yield 10 hits.
FHS managed just four hits.
Connor Pack, Grant Rausch, John Pastirzyk and Alex Blumenschein each had one hit.

Lady Panthers drop game
Fairbanks’ softball squad also fell to West Jefferson, 7-4.
April Ward pitched the first five innings. She gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out one.
Julia Cheney tossed the final two frames.
Mack Green led Fairbanks with three hits and drove in a run.
Cierra Madison tallied a pair of hits, while Riley Blevins doubled in two runs.
FHS (9-11 overall and 6-6 in the Ohio Heritage Conference) will travel to West Liberty today.

Alder triumphs
Jillian Jaske blasted a pair of homers during Jonathan Alder’s (16-1) 14-0 softball victory over Bellefontaine.
Jaske ripped a two-run dinger in the second and added another two-run shot in the fifth.
Lindsey Potter also hit a solo homer in the fifth.
Marlee Jacobs was the winning pitcher.

The Pioneers’ Logan Stevens limited the Chieftains to just one hit.
Alder tallied 10 hits during the win.

Triad teams fall
Triad’s baseball and softball squads dropped games to Mechanicsburg.
The baseball team fell, 3-1, while the Lady Cardinals lost, 5-0.
The Cardinals scored their lone baseball run in the home half of the first inning.
The Indians plated two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Austin Bails had Triad’s lone hit for the day.
Ayden Spriggs was charged with the loss. He fanned four, gave up eight hits and two earned runs.
The Cardinals (10-11) will play at Northeastern today.

Mechanicsburg scored all of its runs over the sixth and seventh innings to hand the Lady Cardinals their loss.
Triad (10-7 overall and 7-5 in the OHC) managed just two hits.
