Marysville High School softball coach Jennifer Segner-Maxwell made good use of both veteran pitchers on her roster.
Juniors Tareyn Born and Abby Christian saw equal action during two victories in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Lady Monarchs are playing games at the Cal Ripkin Jr. Experience during their spring break trip.
Both hurlers started games and alternated innings as MHS clubbed East Carter High School of Kentucky, 15-0, and Buckeye (Ohio) High School 13-1.
Christian was the winning pitcher during the contest against East Carter.
She and Born combined for 12 strikeouts and issued only one walk.
They limited East Carter to a pair of hits.
Born was the winner against Buckeye.
She and Christian fanned a combined 10 and did not issue any free passes.
Buckeye was also not able to record a hit.
The Lady Monarchs’ bats blasted opposing pitching for 25 hits during the day.
Born and Christian each notched three of Marysville’s 16 hits recorded against East Carter.
Abby Gindlesberger, Avery Henry and Skyler North each tallied a pair of safeties.
Christian drove in a trio of runs, while Born and Gindlesberger each had one RBI.
Christian also homered.
Gindlesberger homered among her two hits during the triumph over Buckeye. She drove in three runs.
Henry drove in two runs.
Avery Prohaska finished with two hits.
The Lady Monarchs did not commit an error over the course of either contest.
Marysville’s jayvee squad swept a twinbill from East Carter’s reserves.
The Jr. Monarchs won the opener by an 8-0 verdict.
Caitlin Rigel was the winning pitcher as she surrendered one hit.
Jordyn Ledley, Ashlynn McAdow, Kallie Schweifurth and Sienna Hutchinson each tallied a pair of hits.
Hutchinson blasted a lead-off round-tripper.
Rigel and Abigail Wilkerson combined for a 7-4 triumph during the nightcap.
Abby Strahm led the attack with three hits.

Lady Panthers win twice
The Lady Panthers of Fairbanks are also playing at a Cal Ripken facility, this one in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Fairbanks began the 2022 season with a couple of triumphs.
FHS notched a 14-8 verdict over Brownsville Area High School from Pennsylvania and edged Burgettstown (Pa.), 4-2.
Hailey Dee earned the victory in the pitching circle against Brownsville. She allowed nine hits, walked six and struck out four.
Sarah Writesel pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief for the save.
She struck out a pair of batters and issued a walk.
Writesel, Anna Higbee and Jenna Dee each had the hot bat.
Writesel had four hits and drove in a like amount of runs with a double and homer.
Higbee tripled among her three hits and plated a trio of runs.
Jenna Dee finished with two hits and a homer.
Writesel earned the win over Burgettsdown.
She yielded six hits, whiffed five and walked one.
Hailey Dee, Jenna Dee and Gracie Pyers each finished with one hit.
“We played very well on defense in both games,” said Lady Panther coach Amy Sines. “We made some great plays to keep them from scoring.”
Both Marysville and Fairbanks will continue spring break games this week.
