Marysville High School’s swimmers opened the 2021-22 season by splitting with Worthington Kilbourne on Tuesday.
The Lady Monarchs edged out the Wolves, 80-78.
The boys dropped a 101-54 verdict.
“I knew the girls meet was going to be close,” said MHS coach Beth Seman. “I had no idea just how close it was going to be.
“I am super proud of our new swimmers who joined the sport this year.
“We had some really strong performances during the boys meet,” said the coach.
First-place efforts by MHS swimmers were as follows:
-Reese Cordonnier, 200 freestyle, 2:09.72;
-Molly Gregory, 100 backstroke, 1:09.53.
Marysville turned in second-place performances as follows (times not available for relay events):
-Girls 200 medley relay: Cordonnier, Liv Elliott, Gregory, Carly Amrine;
-Boys 200 medley relay: Joey Hazelbaker, Jacob Markert, Gabe Filbert, Cannon Moser;

-Katheryn Mager: girls 200 IM, 2:47.11;
-Nathan Moledor: boys 200 IM, 2:18.15;
-Gregory: girls 50 freestyle, 27.97;
-Moser: boys 50 freestyle, 25.17;
-Elliott: girls 100 butterfly, 1:13.71;
-Filbert: boys 100 butterly 1:01.57;
-Hazelbaker: boys 100 freestyle, 55.44;
-Cordonnier: girls 500 freestyle, 5:46.56;
-Girls 200 freestyle relay: Mallory Seman, Amrine, Mager, Gregory;
-Boys 200 freestyle relay: Filbert, Moser, Markert, Hazelbaker;

-Elliott: girls 100 breastroke, 1:20.05;

-Girls 400 freestyle relay: Elliott, Mager, Menge, Cordonnier.
The Monarchs will host Fairbanks, Lancaster and Central Crossing on Friday, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event will mark the first home meet of the season.
Competition will be held at the Union County Familly YMCA.
