Wednesday’s rainy weather shortened Marysville High School’s varsity baseball game against Westland.
The Monarchs got six of the seven innings played before the storm hit and came away with a 7-1 victory over the Cougars.
A high school ball game is considered official once five full innings have been played.
The Monarchs upped their record to 12-9 with a strong start.
They erased Westland’s 1-0 lead by plating a trio of runs in the home half of the opening inning.
Gabe Schaeffer and Jack Christian singled to drive in runs, while Matt Belt did the same with a double.
MHS, which is scheduled to host Whetstone today, added two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to secure the victory.
The Monarchs tallied 13 hits for the game.
Belt, Schaeffer and Connor Parks had multiple hits for Marysville.
The Monarchs also used their speed during the game, coming up with six stolen bases. Christian swiped a pair of bags.
Trey Storr started on the mound for MHS and earned the victory.
He allowed one run and one hit during three innings of work. He fanned two.
Blaine Williams picked up the save with his three-inning stint.
