Marysville High School recently held its post-season football awards banquet.
The Monarchs finished the 2021 campaign with a 12-1 record and advanced to the Division I-Region 2 championship game.
A list of the special awards for the season follows:
-Golden Pancake Award: Gavin Rohrs, (three-year winner; 62 pancake blocks);
-Hammer Award (defensive lineman of the year): Ben Bickerstaff and Erryl Will;
-Hecker Homecoming Award: offense-Gabe Powers and Griffin Johnson; defense-Colton Powers and Will;
-Larry Fox Leadership Award: Andrew Bentz;
-Golden Lion Award: Gabe Powers and Rohrs.
The Monarchs compiled impressive statistics for the season.
On the defensive side of the ball, MHS yielded averages of 6.64 points, 91 rushing yards and 80 passing yards per game.
Cam Jones set a school record with an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Will established a new school standard of 13 sacks for the campaign.
The Monarch offense averaged 32.1 points, 319 total yards and 271 rushing yards per game.
MHS ball carriers finished with 3,693 yards and averaged 6.6 yards per attempt.
Marysville tallied a school record of 48 touchdowns for the season.
Colton Powers set a new mark with a 94-yard touchdown run.
JJ Riggsby put his name in the record book with seven extra points in one game.
