The Lady Monarch tennis squad brought home a championship for an early-season tournament.
MHS captured first-place honors in the Delaware Hayes Invitational on Saturday.
All matches were played with an eight-game pro set scoring system.
Hanna Hogan was the star in the early going.
She trailed 6-1 during her first second singles match and was able to rally for an 8-7 victory (7-2 tie-breaker).
Hogan won the final second singles contest with an 8-7 triumph.
The Lady Monarchs won the tournament with first-place finishes at second and third singles and first and second doubles.
Marysville tallied a third-place finish at first singles.
Worthington Kilbourne (WK) was the runner-up in the tournament, followed by Delaware A (DA), third.
Rounding out the field were Buckeye Valley (BV), Westerville North (WN) and Delaware B (DB).
Results for the Lady Monarchs in each round were as follows:
First singles
-Lenhart (BV) defeated Emma Pzedpelski (M) 8-1;
-Pzedpelski (M) beat Connell (DB) 8-0;
-Pzedpelski (M) topped Klumpp (DA) 8-1, third-place finals.
Second singles
-Hogan (M) downed Tea Ilic (DA) 8-7;
-Hogan (M) beat Gina Martin (DB) 8-0;
-Hogan (M) defeated Hershey (WK) 8-7 in the final.
Third singles
-Blair Fairchild (M) defeated Ellie Needleman (WK) 8-0;
-Fairchild (M) toppled Allison Koehler (DB) 8-1;
-Fairchild (M) beat Kannally (DA) 8-3 in the title match.
First doubles
-Paige Hobbs/Alyssa Scott (M) defeated Peyton Bebout/Malia Gibson (BV) 8-1.
-Hobbs/Scott (M) downed Kacy Kohler/Rachel Baughman (WK) 8-3;
-Hobbs/Scott (M) beat Midura/Riggs (DA) 8-1 in the finals.
Second doubles
-Krista O’Shelski/Caitlee Hill (M) downed Ava Vogel/Ella Martin (DB) 8-0;
-O’Shelski/Hill (M) beat Alexis Absalom/Maddie Blazosky (WN) 8-0;
-O’Shelski/Hill (M) topped Bomsta/Carter (WK) 8-1 for the championship.
