The Lady Monarch varsity volleyball team sent seniors Sara Berkland, Olivia Herzog, Lily Keber and Kaylee Rich off in fine fashion Wednesday against Upper Arlington.
The battle between the Lady Monarchs and Golden Bears was one of intensity, according to MHS head coach Bethany Bentz.
The Lady Monarchs took the first set 25-23 during the final home match of the season and then dropped the next two 13-25, 19-25.
“The fourth game became an amazing battle between the two teams,” said Bentz. “Unfortunately, we fell 28-30.
“The effort, tenacity and connection of the Lady Monarchs was great to see,” she said. “Their willingness to fight together as a team every point is what makes this team special.”
Marysville was led by outside hitters Rich with 11 kills and Carissa Baker with nine.
Keber and Berkland each added six kills.
Berkland had 15 assists and Keber finished with 12.
Madi Bentz added five assists.
Danielle Jarvi contributed 11 digs, while Keber, Bentz and Berkland combined for 28.
