Marysville High School’s girls and boys swimming teams performed well during Monday’s annual Whetstone Invitational.
The Lady Monarchs won their meet, while the boys were second in their competition.
Marysville easily outdistanced Whetstone by a score of 145-109 during the girls meet.
The top two teams were followed by Grove City-96, Watkins Memorial-95, Wellington-61 and Marion Harding-32.
First-place individual places for the Lady Monarchs were as follows:
-Mikayla Seman: 200 freestyle, 2:14.1;
-Rachel Poling: 200 IM, 2:25.89 and 100 breastroke, 1:12.06;
-Morgan Grawe: 100 butterfly, 1:05.20.
The Lady Monarchs also won the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
Grove City won the boys meet with 139 points and the Monarchs edged Watkins Memorial, 89-87, for the runner-up spot.
Wellington was fourth with 86, followed by Whetstone-84 and Marion Harding-52.
The Monarchs won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:42.08 and Hank Luther captured top honors in the 100 breastroke in 1:09.18.
The Monarch swimmers will return to action with a home meet on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Marysville will host Marion Harding, with competition beginning at 6:30 p.m.
