The inaugural Lady Monarch doubles tennis tournament will be held Saturday at Marysville High School.
The tournament will be for only doubles matches with each team’s top eight players.
The Lady Monarchs will host athletes from Jonathan Alder, Olentangy Orange, Big Walnut, Grove City and Columbus DeSales.
Coaches will select their best or most skilled players for first doubles and continues down the ladder to fourth doubles.
The MHS courts will be open for warm-ups at 8 a.m. and competition will begin at 9 a.m. with match play.
Athletes will play eight-game pro-sets.
There will also be regulations for tie-breakers.
Each doubles pair is guaranteed to play three, eight-game pro-sets.
“There will be six teams in this tournament,” said Marysville girls tennis coach Bill Romine. “There will be a random draw to select which side of the brackets each court of doubles teams will be on.
“The three teams on the blue side of the bracket will play each other, while the three teams on the red side will do the same.”
After matches on each side of the bracket, the teams will the best records from the blue and the red will play for first and second place.
The teams with the next best records will play for third and fourth.
The teams with the lowest bracket records will battle for fifth and sixth place.
