The 2021-22 winter sports season had been moving along quite well.
There weren’t that many coronavirus-related postponements and the weather during the month of December was conducive for sporting events to be played.
Jonathan Alder’s boys basketball squad had a couple of games rescheduled during December.
That was due to the fact that opposing teams had come down with cases of COVID-19.
The weather in December was some of the best the Union County area had experienced in a number of years for the final month of the calendar.
Although the second half of January turned a bit more winter-like, there weren’t any disruptions to schedules.
And then came February.
Winter Storm Landon roared through late last week with snow, ice and sleet.
High school basketball games were postponed due to the storm.
This is a reminder about two Marysville High School basketball contests.
Marysville’s boys hoop squad’s home game with Thomas Worthington was postponed from Friday to this evening.
That Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division game replaces the contest that was originally scheduled tonight against Upper Arlington.
Marysville High School athletic director Joey Day informed the Journal-Tribune the UA game will not be rescheduled.
MHS officials are searching for another game to round out the Monarchs’ regular season.
The Lady Monarchs will play at Thomas Worthington Wednesday after being postponed Friday.
Fairbanks’ Homecoming boys basketball game scheduled against West Jefferson had not been rescheduled by press time.
North Union’s game from last Friday against Indian Lake had not been rescheduled at press time.
