Marysville’s varsity volleyball squad battled its way to a four-set victory at Hilliard Davidson on Thursday.
The Lady Monarchs (2-1) claimed the first two sets by scores of 25-22, 25-18.
Marysville dropped the third game, 20-25, but came back to win the match with a 25-13 verdict.
“Part of our mission is that ‘Every Event plus Our Reaction equals The Outcome,’” said Marysville head coach Bethany Bentz.
“We responded with urgency after our loss Tuesday to Upper Arlington,” she said.
Morgan Schick finished with 22 digs and five ace serves.
Alyssa Codner tallied 13 digs and four aces, while Rylee Dundon notched 10 digs and an ace.
Sarah Peterson added five aces, while leading Marysville’s offense with 30 assists and seven kills.
Peterson connected with Codner for eight kills.
Larissa Smith and Carys Gossett each tallied eight kills.
Madison Fluharty and Jillian Gardner each contributed six kills.

Pioneers win
Jonathan Alder’s spikers (4-0) rolled past Indian Lake, 25-8, 25-9, 25-16.
“All 15 varsity players got in the match and played well tonight,” said JA coach Joe Ross. “This was a total team effort.”

Lady Cardinals fall
Triad’s spikers (1-4) fell to Mechanicsburg 14-25, 11-25, 15-25.
Lady Cardinal stats for the match were as follows:
-Abby Walls: four blocks, three kills;
-Kaydence Feasel: four digs;
-Cayla Eaton: three blocks.
-Holly Alvoid: four digs.
