Marysville’s varsity softball team upped its record to 4-1 with a pair of victories on Tuesday at Myrtle Beach.
The Lady Monarchs began the day with a 4-1 triumph over Oak Glenn of West Virginia.
They followed with a 12-0 verdict over Independence High School of West Virginia.
Emily Daniel, Genesis Brooks, Izzy Shroyer, Jewely Livington and Sydney Wade each had one of MHS’ five hits in the opener.
Livingston drove in a pair of runs with a triple.
Shroyer was the winning pitcher with relief help from Abby Gindelsberger.

The triumph over Independence upped Shroyer’s pitching record to 4-0 on the season.
Gindelsberger once again pitched in relief.
Daniel, Shroyer, Lexi Williams, Ashley Dunn and Gindelsberger each tallied two hits.
Shroyer drove in three runs. Dunn had two ribbies.

The MHS jayvees split games on Tuesday.
The Jr. Monarchs dropped the first game to Galesburg (Ill.), 16-6.
Jillian Smith had three hits and Olivia Davis had two.
Marysville rebounded in the nightcap with a 13-7 triumph over Independence.
Livingston had nine strikeouts as she started the game in the circle.
Cassie Van Dyke won the game in relief.
Kaitlyn Lowry and Van Dyke each had two hits.

Lady Panthers fall
FHS’ softball team slipped to 2-3 with an 11-8 loss to Colbert Heights (AL) in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
April Ward pitched the first four innings and surrendered five hits. She walked three and fanned two.
Julia Cheney finished the contest in relief.
Anna Higbee had two hits for FHS (2-3).
The Lady Panthers will travel to Triad for a game at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
