The Lady Monarch varsity softball squad split a pair of games on the opening day of its spring break trip.
Marysville is competing in contests in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
MHS opened the spring break tour with a 4-1 truiumph over Grant Community High School of Illinois.
Cam Harbold led Marysville with a pair of hits.
Maya Segner, Ella Wood and Jaidan Hutchins each tallied one hit.
Harbold and Brooklynn Gamby both knocked in a run.
The Lady Monarchs finished with five hits, left four runners on base and committed a pair of fielding miscues.
Josie Bumgarner yielded three hits during the complete-game victory.
She allowed no earned runs.
The victory was followed by a five-inning, 10-0 setback at the hands of Oak Park River Forest High School of Illinois.
Gamby took the loss in the pitching circle.
The Marysville JV team played a time-shortened, five-inning game against Hortonville High School of Wisconsin.
The Jr. Monarchs won 5-3.
Kylie Levings went the distance in the circle. She fanned four and allowed five hits.
Levings contributed two hits, while Gwen Dyal drilled a three-run home run to clinch the victory.
Monarchs win
Marysville’s varsity baseball team opened its trip to Vero Beach, Florida with a 17-2 verdict over Gleneig Country High School.
Max Freeman, Griffin Scheiderer, Jake Fisher, James Hackworth and Derek Moyer all hit safelty.
Hackworth drove in three runs.
Mason Springs was the winning pitcher. He hurled 4 1/3 innings and struck out four.
Tate Martino and Jackson Dempsey also pitched for the Monarchs.
