The Marysville Monarchs, as expected, have secured the No. 1 seed in their region (Region 2-Division I) for the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association state playoffs.
MHS (9-0) remained in the same spot it has held for a number of weeks when the final OHSAA computer ratings were released Sunday afternoon.
The Monarchs finished with 38.271 computer points, the highest among any team in any region across the state, regardless of division.
Marysville will open playoff competition on its home field on Friday.
The Monarchs will kick off at 7 p.m. against No. 16 Delaware Hayes (3-7).
North Union earned the next highest seed among local teams.
The Wildcats (8-2) are No. 7 in Region 18 of Division V.
NU will also have a home contest for the first round of the post-season.
North Union will host No. 10 Genoa Area from Ottawa County on Saturday, with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Comets will take a 5-5 record into the contest in Richwood.
A pair of local teams earned No. 10 seeds in their respective regions.
Fairbanks finished with that spot in Region 24 of Division VI.
The Panthers (5-5) will go on the road to Ross County for another Saturday post-season game.
Fairbanks will travel to Bainbridge to take on the Bearcats of Paint Valley High School. The kickoff is slated for 7 p..m.
The Bearcats possess a 5-4 record.
Their regular season finale at home against Chillicothe Southeastern was cancelled on Friday.
The Pioneers of Jonathan Alder, who have won six out of their last seven games, are ranked No. 10 in Division III’s Region 11.
JA (6-4) will slide over to Franklin County for its playoff opener.
The Pioneers will play at No. 7 Columbus Eastmoor Academy on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Warriors will take a 6-3 record into the contest.
Triad finished the season with a record of 2-8.
The Cardinals concluded the campaign ranked 20th in Region 24 of Division VI.
The top 16 teams in each region among the state’s seven divisions qualified for the playoffs.
