Marysville’s boys varsity hoop squad got back on the winning track Saturday evening.
The Monarchs upped their record to 8-7 with a 74-62 verdict at River Valley.
MHS (which will host Dublin Jerome on Tuesday) held a 20-17 edge after the opening quarter and took a 41-34 margin at halftime.
The Monarchs’ lead stood at 57-50 by the end of the third quarter.
Garrett Taylor led four Monarchs in double-figure scoring with 22.
Jack Christian netted 16, Riley Karnes tallied 15 and Jason Moore finished with 11.
Both Taylor and Christian scored eight points during the second quarter.
Taylor tallied 10 points during the second half.
Also putting points on the board for the Monarchs were Evan Brown-five, Ryan Barlow-four and Kade Focht-one.

Jonathan Alder’s boys hoopsters squeaked by another opponent Saturday afternoon.
The state-ranked Pioneers nipped Reynoldsburg, 57-55, to run their record to 16-0.
JA held a 12-8 edge at the conclusion of the opening quarter and took a 31-17 margin at halftime.
The Pioneers had what appeared to be a somewhat comfortable 41-29 advantage going into the final quarter.
The Raiders, however, went on an offensive run.
Reynoldsburg tallied 26 markers during the final stanza, but the Pioneers were able to hold on for the win.
Jackson Izzard led the Pioneers with 19 points
He was joined in double figures by Joey Walker-13 and Peyton Heiss-10.
Taber Headings scored six, followed by Tyler Begin-five and Gavin Heimlich-four.
