The Marysville High School track and field program held its first summer series meet at the MHS track.
“It was a lot of fun,” MHS Head Coach Luke Sundermier said. “We were all really pleased with the way that it went.”
Nearly 50 youngsters and adults braved the evening heat to participate in various events.
The youngest participate was age five and the oldest was 67.
“We had a lot of high school coaches, athletes and alums helping run the meet and facilitate the events,” Sundermier noted.
Each competitor received a ribbon.
A children’s fun dash got activities started. Oliver Brammer was the lone participant.
That event was followed by the 1600 meter run, 100 and 400-meter dashes and the 4×100 relay.
Field events included the long jump, high jump, shot put and discus.

“What I really enjoy about summer meets is the community involvement,” Sundermier said. “It is just kind of a fun atmosphere, really low pressure and low stress to recconnect with the basics and fundementals of the sport.”
The next meet is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13.
“[The meet] is open to anyone,” Sundermier commented adding that invites have been sent to other schools and coaches. “Anyone who wants to come out and particiapte, they can.”
