North Union opened its baseball season with a 6-1 victory over Madison Plains.
Neither team scored in the first three innings, but the Wildcats tallied three runs in the fourth.
They added another marker in the fifth and two more crossed the plate in the sixth.
Evan Hoffer was the winning pitcher as he did not allow a hit in his four innings on the mound.
He struck out seven and walked two.
Austin Haubiel went the final three innings, giving up one run while striking out four and walking one.
Hoffer led the Wildcats’ offense with three hits.
Haubiel and Landon Converse each tallied two.
Haubiel, Tyler Krebehenne, Kamron Apt and Ozzy Wilson each had an RBI.
North Union will play its first Central Buckeye Conference at home on Friday against Springfield Shawnee.
