A total of six North Union High School football players have earned All-Ohio accolades for the 2021 season.
The honors were announced today for Division V.
The teams were named by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Owen Davis was named to the first team as a running back.
The 6-2, 205-pound junior, who was the Central District offensive player of the year for D-V, led the Wildcats (8-3) in rushing.
He gained 1,059 yards on 115 carries. That was good for fifth in the Central Buckeye Conference.
Davis averaged 9.2 yards per carry and crossed the end zone 19 times on the ground.
Other Wildcats who earned all-state honors were as follows:
-Linebacker Gavin Miller, second-team;
-Running back Ethan Young honorable mention;
-Offensive lineman Drue Duncan, honorable mention;
-Defensive lineman Dalton Wilson, honorable mention;
-Defensive back Trey Bossaller, honorable mention.
Miller, a 5-9, 175-pound senior, finished with 115 total tackles, of which 76 were solo efforts. He was fifth in the Central Buckeye Conference in total tackles.
Young, a 6-0, 190-pound senior, rushed for 880 yards on 122 attempts. That translated into 7.2 yards per carry to go along with six rushing touchdowns.
Duncan, a 6-2, 240-pound junior, was NU’s top offensive lineman for a squad that rushed for nearly 3,000 yards and scored 35 TDs on the ground.
Wilson, a 6-2, 227-pound junior, tallied 57 total tackles.
He came through with four quarterback sacks and forced a like number of fumbles.
Bossaller, a 5-11, 160-pound junior, finished the campaign with five interceptions.
That mark was second in the CBC for the season.
