A 12-6 victory over Mechanicsburg has left Fairbanks’ softball team tied with the Indians at the top of the Ohio Heritage Conference North Division.
Both squads have posted 10-1 circuit records.
Fairbanks is 13-1-1 overall and Mechanicsburg is 10-2.
The Indians led 2-0 after the top of the third.
FHS tallied five runs during its next two at-bats.
The Lady Panthers added seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory.
Jenna Dee went four-for-four at the plate and drove in six runs.
She blasted a grand slam homer in the sixth to put the Lady Panthers back in the lead.
Dee’s round-tripper came after Mechanicsburg’s Bella Batkiewicz hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth.
“I’m not sure I have ever seen a grand slam in the top and the bottom of an inning,” said FHS coach Amy Sines.
“I’m so proud of how well we played tonight and never gave up,” she said.
Tiffini Harper and Kyah Hendren both finished with two hits.
Macy Kise surrendered four hits and fanned eight.

JA girls win
The Lady Pioneer softball team (13-4 overall and 10-2 in the Central Buckeye Conference) got back on the winning track.
Alder ran roughshod over Tecumseh, 24-4, in five innings.
JA tallied 11 runs in the second to take a 12-2 advantage.
Evan Platfoot had five hits in as many trips to the plate and drove in seven runs.
Maggie McCoy finished with four hits and three RBIs.
Caroline Timberlake notched a pair of hits.
Natalie Neumeier, Macy Pruitt and Eliza Shuping took turns in the pitching circle.
Pruitt took the win.
