Jonathan Alder claimed its fifth consecutive Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division wrestling title this past weekend.
A large number of Alder grapplers earned spots in the finals.
The Pioneers scored 168 points as a team with a total of 10 grapplers placing in the tournament.
Alder cemented itself in third place overall behind Bejmanin Logan (second place, 206.5 points) and St. Paris Graham (first place, 235 points).
Jonathan Alder heavyweight (285 pounds) Dominic Kroninger took first place following a first-period pin over Urbana’s Zaidan Johnson in the finals.
At 106 pounds, JA’s Rayce Watson finished as runner-up. He was pinned in the second-period of the finals by Graham’s Jake Landis.
JA’s 113-pounder Junior Anderson took second place. He went the distance against Graham’s Baden Root before coming up short in a 14-12 overtime decision during the finals match.
JA’s Anthony Kroninger (165) suffered a first-period pin loss to Graham’s Bryce Kohler in the finals.
That garnered him a runner-up spot.
Alder 126-pounder Grant Teach claimed a third-place finish during the placement match. He earned a 5-0 verdict over Indian Lake’s Gavin Henry.
A’s 144-pounder Ethan Kuhns secured third after pinning Benjamin Logan’s Jordan Pender in the placement match.
At 132 pounds, JA’s Trenton Moodispaugh finished fourth. He dropped a 5-2 decision to Indian Lake’s Noah Shirk.
JA’s 157-pounder Paul Byerly also took fourth after suffering a 3-2 setback at the hands of London’s Taven Huff in the placement match.
A.J. Delong of Alder finished fifth at 175 pounds. He put Indian Lake’s Ryan Culp to the mat in the first period.
At 120 pounds, JA’s Marcos Martinez took sixth place following a first-period loss by a pin to North Union’s Zack Ellis.
Also competing for the Pioneers were Nixon Baker (138), Jonathan Castillo (190), Jesus Ventura (215) and Cameron Watkins (150).
