Joey Walker of Jonathan Alder clears the bar at 6-3 during the high jump at the Virg Rankin Invitational at North Union High School on Friday. The effort was enough to give Walker first place in the event by more than five inches. The Jonathan Alder boys took second place in the meet with a team score of 104 points. The Jon Alder girls team took first place with a team score of 170 points. Fairbanks and host school North Union also competed at the invitational. Fairbanks took second place in the girls’ meet with a score of 119 points, while the boys finished in second as well with a score of 129.5 points. North Union’s Lady Cats took sixth place with a score of 41 points, while the boys finished in fourth place with a score of 93.5. Full results will appear in Monday’s Journal-Tribune.
