Small rosters for both squads lead to forfeits during opening match of 2020 season
Triad’s varsity wrestlers downed Fairbanks, 30-18, earlier this week.
Forfeits were the name of the game as neither team had enough athletes to fill each weight class.
Match results were as follows:
-106: double forfeit;
-113: Jacob Haser (T) won by forfeit;
-120: double forfeit;
-126: double forfeit;
-132: double forfeit;
-138: Austin Coy (F) won by forfeit;
-145: Sam Stokes (T) won by forfeit;
-152: Coleman Hauck (T) won by forfeit;
-160: Tucker Webb (T) won by forfeit;
-170: Dominick Coy (F) won by forfeit;
-182: Isiah Leasure (T) pinned Connor McCardle (F);
-195: Ashton Griffith (F) won by fall over Kyle Walborn (T);
-220: Thomas Ford (T) won by forfeit;
-285: double forfeit.
Ashton Griffith has been named Fairbanks’ wrestler of the week.
Fairbanks will return to action next Wednesday (Dec. 16).
The Panthers will compete at North Union along with Columbus Bishop Ready.
