The Lady Monarch volleyball squad, which is battling some injuries, fought hard but fell to Big Walnut on Thursday by scores of 25-22, 16-25, 12-25, 20-25.
Rhi Gossett let the Monarchs with nine kills, followed by Alyssa Codner with five.
Carys Gossett topped MHS with a trio of blocks.
Marysville had nine blocks for the night.
Peyton Ingle, Sarah Peterson and Morgan Shick combined for 25 assists.
Kaitlyn DeLauter led Marysville with 10 digs, while Maddie Busch and Shick each tallied nine.
The Lady Monarchs will be back in action at Westland High School on Tuesday.
Lady Panthers fall
Fairbanks’ spikers dropped their first Ohio Heritage Conference match of the season.
The Lady Panthers were swept by Northeastern 21-25, 18-25, 23-25.
Kaidie Carstensen finished with nine blocks and a like number of kills.
Cassie Lamb was perfect on 10 serves, while Emily Griffey tallied six kills.
FHS is now 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
