The North Union Wildcats were able to make some headway on the ground against the defending Mid Ohio Athletic Conference champions Clear Fork, but that headway was not enough to get them over the hump.
As a result, the Cats suffered their first loss of the season, 42-14, at the hands of the Colts.
The Colts tallied the opening points with a Trevor Trammell run for five yards and solid point after that gave them a 7-0 lead.
NU answered with its own running game. Trevor Moran was able to cap off a drive with a seven-yard run for points. Anthony Padovano put the ball through the uprights to tie up the game at 7-7.
The Colts had an answer and it was a 25-yard pass by Brennan South to Trammell for his second touchdown of the game.
The second quarter stalled as the two teams couldn’t find the end zone.
After the half, NU tied the game on a 30-yard pass from Padovano to Carson Smith.
Padovano added the PAT to bring the game to 14-14.
That would be the last trip to the end zone for the Wildcats.
The Colts took the upper hand by the end of the third stanza with a four-yard run by Jared Schaefer to take a 21-14 lead.
In the final stanza, it was all Clear Fork as it tallied 21 points to close the door on the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fell to 3-1 on the season and will host Ontario for Homecoming on Friday.
