The first two weeks of reopening have gone well for the Union County Family YMCA.
That is the message that was sent out Wednesday afternoon by YMCA CEO Trevor Secord.
“We are ready to move forward with our second and third phases of reopening,” said Secord.
Phase II of the YMCA’s reopening will start on Monday, June 22.
At that time, group exercise classes will begin.
The basketball courts will be open and pickleball matches will resume.
There will also be limited usage of the Kidzone.
“All of these activities will have physical distancing applied to them in order to keep to the current coronavirus guidelines and protocols put in place by the state,” said Secord.
The YMCA’s third phase is planned to begin on Monday, July 6.
At that point, all programs, youth sports, swimming lessons, martial arts classes and group personal training will begin.
Water fitness and leisure swimming will also start in the therapy and lap pools during the third phase.
“However, there will be no family-open leisure swimming in the therapy pool,” said Secord. ”All of these programs will also adhere to the guidelines put in place by the state and will have physical distancing as a part of the phase.”
YMCA members may now register for programs that will begin on July 6.
“We are excited to have our members back with us and using our facility in the next month’s time,” said Secord. “However, we still encourage those who do not feel comfortable to limit their use of the facility.”
Secord said members should stay home if they feel ill and to wear a mask and physically distance when possible while at the YMCA.
“Everyone’s health is our top priority,” he said.
Current hours of operation are listed as 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday; and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday.
