Editor’s note: This is the 84th of a series about growing up in Marysville during the late 1930s and the 1940s written by Bill Boyd. Each article is a snapshot of the people, businesses and activities during that era as seen through the eyes of a young boy.
Boyd was born in Marysville in 1932, graduated from Marysville High School in 1950, and lived the greater part of his life here.

“Blockhead”
In my six years in Marysville’s West Elementary School, I never had a teacher I didn’t like. Sure, I liked some of them better than others, but I really didn’t dislike any of them. In fact, I can only remember one time when my relationship with any of those teachers became a little strained. It was when I was in the fourth grade, and my teacher was Miss Sweeney.
