On Friday at 12:30 p.m., fourth graders at Fairbanks Elementary School used baking soda and vinegar to create “eruptions” in volcanoes they constructed out of papier mâché and water bottles. School officials would not identify students shown in the photo. The demonstration wrapped up a lesson on geology and land science. After spring break, the students will be learning about fossils. At 1:23 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 33 southbound near the Scottslawn Road overpass, a 2016 Acura TLX drove off the left side of road, overcorrected, and struck a 2015 Buick Verano, driven by Alima Miller of Wauseon. The name of the driver of the Acura was not included on the report at press time. The Buick then traveled onto construction barricades and flipped over. At around 2:32 p.m. Monday on Scottslawn Road, a traffic crash damaged an electrical pole. OSP troopers, sheriff’s deputies and units from the Marysville Fire responded to the 15000 block of Scottslawn Road for a crash involving a 2016 Toyota Prius that lost control and struck a utility pole.
