A number of Jerome Township residents again expressed their displeasure with potential developments in the area. Tuesday’s trustees meeting began with a request from Jerome Village developers to rezone 69.59 acres on the southeast corner of Jerome Road and Blaney Road from Rural Residential District (RU) to Planned Development District (PD). The rezoning would allow for the development of single-family homes. The area would have 149 lots at a density of 2.14 units per acre, with 36% open space. Bart Barok, with Nationwide Realty Investors, said he expects the proposed homes to sell for between $400,000 and $500,000. The layout…

The Plain City Police Department will have a second sergeant later this summer. Police Chief Dale McKee spoke to council about the department’s need during a work session this week. He noted that village ordinances already allow PCPD to have two sergeants. McKee said the department previously had two sergeants, but left the position vacant when the village was implementing budget cuts. Filling the position would provide a third-shift sergeant and reduce “a lot of the middle-of-the-night calls” to current leadership, McKee said. He added that the position would likely be filled through the promotion of a current officer. “I’d…

Real life isn’t always a perfect photo op. We’re all fully aware of this, but social media has convinced us to pretend that it is. We let our food get cold while we take artsy photos to post online. We miss the play of the game while trying to take a photo. We water down even the biggest events in life – birthdays, graduations, weddings – by watching them through our phone screens. We can’t fully enjoy our new jobs, new houses or new cars until we share them with our online “friends” and followers. It’s no longer our own…

He said village staff was in the process of filling the pool when they noticed something was wrong. The pool should have been filled “and then some” on Monday morning, but “it was not there yet,” Cahall…
