ARNOLD –––– A local man is facing rape and other sex-related charges. A Union County Grand Jury has indicted Max William Arnold, 30, of 628 Kenny Lane, Marysville. He is charged with two counts of rape along with one count each of sexual battery, possessing criminal tools and soliciting. Deputy Chief Tony Brooks of the Marysville Police Department said Arnold knew the victim. He said they had been acquaintances for several years and began communicating on social media about a year ago. Students from around the country toured the Technical Development Center at Honda earlier this week. The tour was part of the National Urban League Youth Leadership Summit’s Honda Day. Participants toured a number of Honda operations in Ohio. Jerome Township Trustees have tabled the idea of creating a limited home rule township. At a recent meeting, the trustees acknowledged if they wanted to put the question of limited home rule to the voters, they would need to get it filed with the board of elections soon. Before a township can move to limited home rule, residents must approve the decision. BENDER –––– A local man accused of kidnap and rape is at is currently at Tri-County Regional Jail, being held on a $1-million bond. Jason Guy Bender, 40, of Marysville, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of felonious assault, kidnapping, rape and having weapons under a disability. The court set his bond at $1-million. Assistant Union County Prosecutor Terry Hord requested the seven-figure bond. “He is a risk,” Hord said. “He fled. … He threatened to kill the victim.” The charges stem from an alleged incident June 28 and 29. As Dublin City School District takes action to deal with growth in the area, Jerome Township is also responding. The Dublin City School District Board of Education recently voted to put an initiative on the ballot. If approved, the initiative would fund several new school buildings, including an elementary school and a middle school in Jerome Village. The fugitive man accused of kidnapping, assaulting and raping a local woman has been captured. Early Sunday morning, Jason Guy Bender, 40, of Marysville, was arrested in Putnam County. Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton said reports of the arrest are still unavailable, but explained deputies from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Bender as part of a traffic stop. He said Bender allegedly did not stop and the officers pursued him into Putnam County. “They finally ended up stopping the vehicle,” Patton said.
