On Thursday, we ran a story about a threat at the high school. A student apparently saw a gun in a trash can. The school safety plan was enacted. When the rear tire came off a U.S. mail truck, it caused a two-vehicle crash, stopping traffic on Maple Street Thursday. According to a police report, about 11:07 a.m. Thursday, Mary Rausch was driving a mail truck north in the 500 block of North Maple Street, in Marysville. The left rear tire came off the mail truck, causing the truck to go left of center and hit a 2004 Chevy 1500 SUV. The SUV, traveling south, was driven by Amanda Myers. Plain City is moving forward with the purchase of land to house a new village hall and police station. At this week’s meeting, village council approved the purchase of a 3.14-acre property on Village Drive for $290,000. The vacant parcel sits between Lovejoy Plaza and the condominiums to the west. Last month, council authorized the purchase, contingent on the property appraising for more than the purchase price. Against recommendation of the county prosecutor, engineer and administrator, the Union County Commissioners have refused to accept a negotiated infrastructure agreement for the Jacquemin Farms Development. At a hearing Tuesday, the commissioners voted 1-1 on a proposed infrastructure agreement that called for the developer to contribute $1.1 million in cash and infrastructure improvements for Hyland-Croy Road. Commissioner Charles Hall has been out of the office for a period of time with an illness. The owner of Plain City’s clock tower building is asking the village for help preserving the structure. At Monday evening’s council meeting, Tammy Redmond, owner of Tique-Tock, asked the village to help pay for damage to the clock, which the village owns but sits on top of her building at 101 S. A Richwood man could be facing nearly a decade in prison after allegedly attacking his grandfather. Dustin Tyler Waddell, 21, of 330 N. Franklin St., Richwood, has been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury. Waddell is charged with one count each of felonious assault and aggravated possession of drugs. According to court documents, on March 12, Waddell got into an argument with his grandfather, 60. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Julie Anne Miller, 39, and her husband, Terry Amos Miller, 31, both of 121 N. Cherry St., Kenton, on felony drug charges. The Union County Commissioners are reworking the way they operate. The commissioners currently schedule meetings throughout the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. County Commissioner Gary Lee recently said the commissioners want a “change of structure.” “The idea behind it is to try to utilize everybody’s time,” Lee said. Less than six months after his last domestic violence conviction, a Marysville man is again facing charges of assaulting the same woman. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Danny Ray Harrold, 59, of 251 W. Eighth St., Marysville. Harrold has been charged with one count of domestic violence. According to court documents, Harrold spent the evening of Feb. 28, yelling at his live-in girlfriend. “They have been together for quite some time,” said Union County Assistant Prosecutor Rick Rodger.
