Fires caused by lightning strikes kept fire fighters in Jerome Township busy Thursday evening. Judge Don Fraser said the case is not high profile, but should offer a good indication of how prepared the courthouse is to deal with larger groups. The Marion man who led dozens of law enforcement officials on a high-speed chase through the County has been indicted. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Troy C. Burgess, 25, of Marion, charging him with one count each of felonious assault and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. According to court documents, about 1:34 p.m. May 12, Burgess was allegedly driving a 2009 Lincoln MKS 75 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 4 near Pharisburg. A call, coming from inside an abandoned home, has led to the indictment of a Marysville woman and her boyfriend. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Martin Goble and his girlfriend Sandra Lucille Carpenter. Carpenter, 45, of 17817 Navin Road, Marysville, and Goble, 52 of Columbus, are each charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of aggravated possession of drugs. At Monday night’s City Council meeting, member Donald Boerger said he is against a proposed expansion to Leon’s Garage, 326 E. Fifth St., as well as a new microbrewery at 129 N. Officials from the Union County Board of Revision say they will be scheduling hearings soon. Every six years, the county auditor is required to a complete value assessment for every property in the county. That revaluation was completed in 2019 and appears on 2020 tax bills. Those who disagree with their property valuation can file an appeal with the county’s Board of Revision, which hears complaints on the appraisals. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., within that district, residents can buy an alcoholic drink from an event or restaurant and carry it throughout the Uptown.
