A Delaware man could be facing more than five years in prison after allegedly causing a crash that injured another man. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Justin Michael Vanhoesen, charging him with one count each of aggravated vehicular assault and possession of drug abuse instruments. A Mill Valley man, arrested with drugs and multiple assault style guns, could be facing nearly three decades in prison. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Timothy Conley, 50, of 1178 Nutmeg Dr. Conley is charged with one count each of illegal manufacture of drugs, trafficking in hashish, trafficking in marijuana, possession of hashish, possession of marijuana, corrupting another with drugs and two counts of unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance. While Jerome Township officials and residents are looking to curb noise pollution, they aren’t sure they can do it. At Monday night’s meeting of the Jerome Township Board of Trustees, the trustees discussed legislation that would prohibit “Jake brakes” in the township. Plain City is planning to move away from using the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) and bringing income tax collection into the village. RITA collects income taxes for many Ohio municipalities that have an income tax but no tax department. Plain City has used the agency to collect income tax from residents since 1995. Village Administrator Nathan Cahall said RITA’s “niche” is serving small communities. Cahall said the agency takes “a little bit north of 3 percent” as a collection fee. The Union County Commissioners are leasing their farm ground. The county recently accepted a bid from Darrison Cook to farm 72 acres of county ground. County officials said the county owns 66 acres on County Home Road and “the rest is spread out on some other areas,” said County Administrator Tim Hansley. Cook will pay $185 per acre to farm the land. The bid was more than $40 above the only other bidder, Lee Farms. Plain City officials are starting the process of asking for volunteers to help shape the future government. At a work session following Monday’s Plain City Village Council meeting, the body authorized solicitor Paul Lafayette to draw up paperwork asking residents if they want the village to become a charter city or remain a statutory community. A Westerville man could be facing nearly a decade and a half in prison after allegedly abusing the disabled man who was in his care. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Yusuf Sankoh, 34, of 864 Tradewind Dr., Westerville. Sankoh is charged with one count each of felonious assault, assault and abduction. Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said Sankoh had been hired to care for a 55-year-old, developmentally disabled individual.
