Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger van at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Harriott Road in Jerome Township on Friday morning. The collision occurred when a Chrysler Pacifica attempted to cross the highway and was struck by a northbound semi, triggering a secondary crash with a southbound truck. A new concept plan for a development on Route 161 east of Plain City shows possible commercial, multi-family and single-family lots on the 114-acre property. After village officials recently offered feedback on the design, developers said the project will likely move forward with the updates and a request to annex the land into the village. During a tour of Jerome Fire Department’s Station 210 Wednesday, Chief Doug Stewart pointed out some of the concerns that the department has faced with the station – from storage and training space concerns and a lack of proper decontamination areas to more rooted issues such as the station not being up to fire code and lacking fire suppression systems. As part of action at the Jerome Township Trustees meeting on Tuesday, the station will host an open house on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to inform the public about plans to place the fire levy on the November ballot along with a survey to allow for community input on the options. The Amazon data center at 8565 Industrial Parkway, which is currently under construction in Jerome Township, suffered smoke damage after a fire occurred in an HVAC unit inside of the building. Officials are still investigating the cause and extent of the damage. Five injuries caused by smoke inhalation were reported and one individual was transported to OSU. Plain City will see some 4,500 housing units over the next several years and village officials have broken down where those developments will be. The areas in green are projects that are active and under construction. The projects in blue are in the planning or approval process.
