Dear Editor,
Six weeks after the election that resulted in victory for Joe Biden and just under a week after his self-imposed deadline for the end of the election, Sen. Rob Portman is finally willing to say “President-elect Joe Biden.” But for weeks, instead of aiding in a smooth transition of power, Portman humored Trump and his failing legal strategy.
In lieu of condemning Trump’s actions — trying to overturn election results in states where the result was not favorable to him — he supported Trump’s right to look into all his legal options. Portman is still hyper-focused on fraud for this election, of which there is little evidence, but has yet to condemn the Trump supporters who have threatened violence and intimidated elections officials. Once again, Portman is showing his support for Trump and his administration, rather than the American people.
As Ohioans wait for COVID relief… and wait and wait… the first thing Portman is willing to speak up about is Trump’s legal right to failing legal challenge after legal challenge to election results. Who is Portman really working for?
