Clint Hayes has been named the new principal at Jonathan Alder High School.
The district board of education approved Superintendent Gary Chapman’s recommendation at the regular meeting on Apr. 8. Chapman picked Hayes, who will be moving from principal at the junior high, to fill the spot of current high school principal, Michael Aurin. Aurin will be leaving the district in July to start as principal at Dublin Jerome High School.
With Hayes in place in the high school, the junior high spot is now open.
“We’ve had over 60 applicants and began the screening process,” Chapman said. The final interviews are expected this week and he hopes to have a decision Friday.
Board officials also approved a study done by FutureThink, a company in Dublin that forecasts enrollment for schools across the country. Information from the study was presented to the board showing the district pays $16.75 per pupil for student services.
Also at the April meeting, the school board had a first reading of Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) legislation for two properties in Plain City. The CRA would offer 12-year abatements to business owner Tim Dawson who has purchased two buildings on Main Street with plans to remodel them.
The investments would include $630,000 for 138 West Main Street and $295,000 for 150 West Main Street.
The legislation will need to eventually go before both the school board and Plain City Village Council for approval.
