The Lady Cat golfers have youth and experience on their side this year. North Union will be led by its solo senior Maddy Snyder.
Sophomores Katlyn Saunders, Grace Swank and Cami Craft, who are also retuning as letter winners, will join Snyder, who has been a four-year letter winner for the Lady Cats.
“All three sophomores played varsity last year and have improved a lot over a year,” said coach Jessica Curtis.
North Union will have two new golfers to this year’s team, Kendra Nicol and Lilly Taylor. Also joining the team this year is Curtis as the first-year coach.
“I am a first-year coach but my assistant, Nick (Curtis), is on his fifth year with the team,” said Curtis.
Curtis said her goal for the team is simple. “My goal this year is for the girls to see their strengths and to reach new personal bests,” said.
The Lady Cats’ season is already well underway in their new league, the Central Buckeye Conference, and they have had a slow start, opening up with a 0-2.
Curtis, though, hopes things can turn around for the Lady Cats as they work through their schedule.
“I want to get to know our opponents since we are new to the CBC,” she said. “Our goal is to be one of top three teams in our league this year.”
The goal is still obtainable as the Lady Cats have well over half their schedule still to play.
They are facing off against many of their opponents for the first time and will have another crack at them on the back half of their schedule.
