Lady Panthers edge Columbus Academy


The Lady Panthers of Fairbanks traveled to Columbus Academy for their soccer season opener which was called “Friday Night Futbol.”

The Lady Panthers beat the Vikings, 1-0.

The lone goal was tallied with less than eight minutes gone in the first half.

Emma Cook crossed the ball to Elaina Lehmers for the score.

“The rest of the game was a defensive struggle,” said coach Randy Spain. “The Panthers were bent, but they did not break.”

Avery Groves tallied nine saves for Fairbanks.
