Marysville High School’s varsity wrestling team placed 29th during the recent 40-plus team Brecksville Holiday tournament.
The Monarchs tallied 57.5 points.
Detroit Central Catholic of Michigan won the team title with 226.5 points, followed by Brecksville-184, Elyria-183.5, Avon (Ind.)-142.5 and Brownsville (Ind.)-132 to round out the top five.
MHS had six seniors in the lineup.
The only placer for MHS was fourth-year man Walker Heard (160), who placed third. He won five of his six matches.
Heard’s matches were as follows:
-Championship round: won by fall over Antwain Williams (Toledo Whitmer), 3:59;
-Champ. Round 3: won by tech fall over Jarrett Bischoff (Wauseon), 19-2;
-Quarterfinal: dec. Will McGhee (Aurora), 7-2;
-Semifinal: Kevon Davenport (Detroit Catholic Central) won in sudden victory over Heard, (SV-1 3-1);
-Consolation semifinal: won by decision over Jacob Lee (Lowell), 4-1;
- Third-place match: won by 2-1 decision over David Cumberledge (St. John).

-152: Blayne Landon (1-2) defeated Grant Ott (Dundee) 2-1, was pinned in 1:07 by Jax Leonard (Louisville) and dropped an 11-2 maj. dec. to Jacob Beehn (Portage);
-170: Zach Lowe (0-2) was pinned in 1:21 by Carson Kharchla (Olentangy Liberty) and fell to Bryce Kern (Avon), 8-3;
