The Mid Ohio Athletic Conference track and field post-season kicked off Tuesday with a preliminary meet to help set the stage for the MOAC finals on Thursday.
The Lady Cats of North Union have tallied 13.5 points to put them at seventh place during the meet which is being held at Marion Harding.
Abby Davis will be moving on to the finals. She had a qualifying time of 12.5 in the 100 dash, 25.4 in the 200 dash and 57.49 in the 400 dash.
The field portion of the meet was conducted as finals, along with the 4×800 relay. The Lady Cats claimed seventh in the relay with a time of 10:55.
NU finished as follows in the girls’ field events:
-High jump: Kaylee Smith, eighth, 4-6; Journey Blevins, 11th, 4-6;
-Long jump- Libby Ardrey, 13th, 13-3.75; Ashlee Kohler, 16th, 12-1.5;
-Shot put: Sydney Bacon, fourth, 33-5;
-Discus: Bacon, fourth, 103-10.
The following Lady Cats finished as follows in the track events and did not qualify for the finals:
-100 dash: Sadie Spriggs, 14th, 14.36;
-200 dash: Blevins, 15th, 30.7;
-400 dash: Meghan Fuller, 25th, 1:09;
-100 hurdles: Smith, 15th, 20.17;
-300 hurdles: Smith, 15th, 59.4.
The NU boys also advanced several runners into the finals.
Kyle Willis will continue in the post season with a third place finish in the 100 dash with a time of 11.64 and a fifth place finish in the 200 dash in 23.74.
Austin Jamison will also run in the 200 dash with a qualifying time of 24.45 for eighth place.
Michael Brandt will run the 110 hurdles in the MOAC finals with a qualifying time of 17.76.
North Union also claimed second in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:30.
The Wildcats finished as follows in the field events:
-High jump: Tucker Berridge, ninth, 5-6;
-Pole vault: Braxton Conal, sixth, 11-0;
-Long jump: Brennan Griffith, ninth, 18-8.25; Nick Miller, 15th, 16-8.75;
-Shot put: Jaxson Harrah, fifth, 46-6.25; Matt Quigley, 14th, 35-9;
-Discus: Brandon Hamby, fourth, 127-2; Quigley, 14th, 97-9.
The following Wildcats finished as follows in the track events and did not qualify for the finals:
-100 dash: Jamison, 10th, 12.11;
-400 dash: Miller, 14th, 58.01; Hamby, 15th, 59.10;
-300 hurdles: Caleb Isler, 14th, 51.12; Parker Brandt, 15th, 55.84.
The distance events and relays will be run as finals during the second half of the MOAC meet on Thursday at Marion Harding.
