Fairbanks High School has advanced several athletes to the Division III state track and field meet.
State qualification came during the regional meet at Fairfield Union High School.
The Panthers’ boys 4×200 relay team of Nate Timmons, Trey Good, Kaleb Bosworth and Will Cochrane will take on 15 other teams from around the state on Friday at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The foursome advanced through the regionals with the second- fastest time of 1:31.27.
Timmons will also run in the state 300-meter hurdles after placing fourth at the regional meet in a time of 40.39.
The 4×100 relay team of Timmons, Good, Cochrane and Braeden Fairchild also advanced to the final day of the regional meet.
However, they missed out on a state birth by five hundredths of a second, taking fifth place in a time of 44.93.
Cochrane also made it to the 400-meter finals and finished the race in a time of 54.81 for eighth place.
In the DIII regional at Troy High School, the Cardinals of Triad were able to advance to the state meet in the boys 200-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles.
Dominick McFarlan took the 300 hurdles in a time of 40.14 for third place, while Eli-Obrien clinched the third spot in the 200 in a time of 22.42.
McFarlan also competed in the 110-meter hurdles final, where he finished in fifth place in a time of 15.94.
O’Brien took eighth place in 100-meter dash in a time of 11.56.
The state track meet will begin Friday with field events and the preliminary round of track events.
Competition will conclude on Saturday.
