Regional track and field meets for Divisions I and III kicked off on Wednesday.
Several local athletes will be continue their season, while others came to the end of the road.
The Monarchs of Marysville advanced four athletes, Jacob Ranker, Gary Markin, Tristin Karnes and Jenna Rioch, on to the regionals, which are being held at Pickerington North High School.
Ranker ran in both the 110 and 300 hurdles in the preliminary heats.
He qualified for Friday evening’s finals in the 110 with a sixth-place time of 14.82 and in the 300s with a fifth-place prelim effort of 38.75.
Markin also competed in the pole vault during the opening day of the regional meet. He cleared 12-0 to take 12th place.
The top four spots advanced to next week’s state meet at The Ohio State University.
Karnes and Rioch will respectively run in Friday’s finals in the 1600 and 800.
The Panthers of Fairbanks showed up to their regional event at Lancaster Fairfield Union High School competing in seven events.
They advanced to Friday’s finals in four of those events.
The boys’ 4×200 relay team of Nate Timmons, Trey Good, Kaleb Bosworth and Will Cochrane took third place with a time of 1:33.35.
The boys 4×100 relay team of Timmons, Good, Kyle Craig and Braeden Fairchild advanced to the finals with a sixth-place time of 45.23.
Timmons also found success in the 300-meter hurdles, taking sixth place in a time of 42.16.
Cochrane will run in the 400-meter dash finals after an eighth-place prelim finish of 52.79.
Good, who also ran in the 200-meter dash, will not move on to the final round after missing out on the final qualifying spot by one tenth of a second.
He took ninth place in a time of 23.65.
The Lady Panthers advance the 4×800 relay team of Kaidie Carstensen, Kalor Greeve, Gracie Hubbs and Adeline Fitzwater to the regionals,
The foursome did not advance any farther as they finish in sixth place in a time of 10:31.
Baylor Green competed in the long jump and took fifth place with a distance of 19-05.75 to conclude his season.
Timmons placed sixth in the event at 19-02.
The Cardinals of Triad also found success at their Division III regional meet at Troy. Dominick McFarland will advance to the finals after taking second place in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.58.
He also took second in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 40.42.
The Cards advanced Eli O’Brien to Friday’s finals in both the 100 and 200-meter events.
He was seventh in the 100 with a time of 11.56 and took second in the 200 in a time of 22.45.
McFarland and O’Brien were also a part of Triad’s 4×100 relay team that finished in ninth place in a time of 45.46.
They missed out on a qualifying spot by .02 seconds. The remaining team members were Mason Harper and Dylan Van Tassell.
The Division II regional track meet is scheduled to start today.
North Union and Jonathan Alder will compete at Lexington High School with field events starting at 4 p.m. and track events kicking off at 5:30 p.m.
