The Triad baseball team celebrated its sixth consecutive win with a 10-5 victory over Urbana on Thursday.
Ryan Gross took the mound for the Cardinals to start the game.
He kept the Hill Climbers off the board in the first inning.
Gross then struggled in the second inning as Urbana took a 3-1 lead.
Triad answered in the bottom of the second with a run to reel in Urbana.
Triad head coach Jon Roberts called on Coleman Hauck to come in relief in the top of the third.
Hauck yielded a pair of runs in the top of the inning.
Solid hitting from the Cardinals racked up seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to give Triad a 9-5 lead.
The Cards added some insurance in the fourth inning to stretch their lead to 10-5.
Hauck closed out the game without giving up any more runs to the Hill Climbers.
Jared Spors had a perfect two-for-two day at the plate, adding three RBIs.
J.C. Alexander had a big knock that plated a pair of runs while going two-for-three at the plate.
The Cardinals are scheduled to return to the field today against Madison-Plains.

Lady Cardinals notch second win
A late push at the plate lifted the Lady Cardinals past Greeneview, 7-3, move the them to 2-8 on the season.
Joni Russell was inside the circle and kept Greeneview off the board through the first three innings.
The Lady Cardinals bats were working early to take a 2-0 lead after two frames.
The Lady Rams answered with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth to take a 3-2 edge.
Triad rallied in the top of the seventh with five runs to retake the lead by 7-3.
Coach Shari Dixon stayed with her senior pitcher in the bottom of the seventh.
The move paid off as Russell sat the Rams down to give Triad its second win.
Russell also had a solid day at the plate, going two-for-four with a triple.

Lady Cats cruise to easy win over RV
North Union’s softball squad only needed five innings to amass 18 runs as it decimated River Valley 18-1.
NU swung for the fenches early. A home run by Cagney Stewart accounted for the first three runs.
River Valley answered with a run in the bottom half of the first to move the scoreboard to 3-1 in favor of the Lady Cats.
That score didn’t stay that long as NU kept the bats hot.
The Lady Cats notched runs runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take their huge 18-1 lead.
Kayla Sedgwick added three runs by going two-for-five at the plate.
Kennady Ruhl also knocked in three runs with a three-for-four day at the plate. Laney Sparks followed suit with three RBIs during her four plate appearances. Bailee Amstutz, who also pitched a complete game, settled inside the box for two RBIs while going three-for-four.
The Wildcats are scheduled to return to action today at home against Jonathan Alder.

Lady Panthers fall
Fairbanks’ softball squad (3-5) dropped a 6-0 verdict to Buckeye Valley.
Julia Cheney pitched the first three innings for FHS.
She allowed six hits and five runs (three of which were earned).
Sarah Writesel went to the circle in the fourth inning and gave up one hit and a run.
FHS, which will host Greeneview today, finished the game with four hits.

Bunshold wins
The Bunsold eighth-grade baseball team won a 6-5 contest over Dublin Karrer.
Jackson Dempsey picked up his second win on the mound, while Isiah Brooks came in for the save.
Jake Fisher had a solid day at the plate, driving in a pair of runs.
Brandon Dunn stole three bases.
The Monarchs are scheduled to play at home Monday versus Olentangy Liberty.
