Dennis L. Kasper, 70, of Zanesfield died at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Memorial Hospital. He was born in Columbus on Sept. 29, 1949 to the late Robert “Bob” and Eloise (McAdow) Kasper. He graduated from Fairbanks High School in 1967. He was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard. He also worked for O.M. Scott and Sons for 30 years. He then started his own company, Athletic Turf Specialties, Inc. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer, coon, rabbit and squirrel hunting. Marysville’s girls tennis team concluded its season during the Division I sectional tournament at Upper Arlington on Thursday. The Lady Monarchs didn’t have anyone advance to district play, but did have several players win two games. Athletes need to win three matches in order to advance to the district. Seniors Maddie Blaisdell, Ellie Williams and Caroline Geraghty played the final matches of their high school careers. “Our seniors led this team to the second-best record in MHS girls tennis since 1995,” said coach Bill Romine. Last week we published a story about the growth that Jonathan Alder School District is experiencing. The article went in depth about enrollment numbers, but what was particularly interesting was how Supt. Gary Chapman planned to communicate the district’s message to the voters and taxpayers. Russell Thomas Clark, 51, of Plain City died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 at Grant Hospital. Born June 29, 1968 in Marysville, he was a lifelong resident of the Plain City area and attended Jonathan Alder High School. He worked as a firefighter in Milford Center from 1993-2004. Virginia L. Swinning, 81, of Marysville and formerly a Shelby resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 at Memorial Gables Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
