The victories keep coming for the St. John’s Lutheran volleyball team. The Lady Jaguars upped their record to 13-0 with two recent wins. St. John’s beat Hilliard Memorial 25-1, 25-7. The team served 45-of-48 for the match. Stats were as follows: -Emma Hamilton: served 12/12 with 10 aces; -Grace Gorton: served 10/11 with six aces; -Allie Boyd: served eight-of-eight with six 6 aces; -Avery Gallmeyer: served seven-of-nine with six aces; -Mya Balderson: served six-for-six with four aces. Triad’s boys golf team finished seventh out of the 12 squads in the Southwest sectional at Shelby Oaks Country Club on Tuesday. Cole Pond of Triad led the team with an 83 and was the top individual district qualifier. He will play in the district on Oct. 1 at Glenview Golf Course. According to Plain City Police Department reports: An officer was dispatched to Lantern Lane in reference to a soliciting complaint at 4:58 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. The caller advised the subject was soliciting for Terminex. Upon arrival, the officer checked the area but was unable to locate the subject. Building water cleared as safe Students at Raymond Elementary School are once again being permitted to drink from building water supplies. “Late last week, we received official confirmation that Raymond Elementary can resume normal use of water, which includes consumption and preparation of food, due to antimony not being detected in the multiple samples tested by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in September,” According to a letter from Raymond Elementary School Principal Carol Lentz. Oscar Conrad Decker, Jr., Major General, U.S. Army (retired), 94, a native of Nebraska and a 33-year-resident of Marysville, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Haymarket, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. He spent most of his life in the Army, beginning in World War II as an enlisted soldier and retiring 40 years later in 1983 as a general officer. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church since 1959 and, upon Army retirement, became active in Marysville and Union County community service. Jean Ann Russell, 92, of Plain City died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Edgewater Place in Plain City. She was a longtime member of the Plain City Presbyterian Church and a dedicated member of the Church Choir and Women’s Association. She also served as the church secretary for Pastor Stenner.
