Plain City Water officials are asking for the public’s help. “I need more sampling sites,” said Wade Leimeister, village water and wastewater superintendent. At Monday night’s council meeting, Leimeister explained that according to Ohio regulations, the village is required to test a sampling of homes with lead plumbing or with pre 1970 copper plumbing each year. Until this year, the lead testing could be conducted every three years. Leimeister said the village needs to test at least 20 homes each year. Police reported three injuries following this two car-crash on N. Maple Street, in front of the Marysville Early College High School last week. At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday, A 2013 Honda Fit driven by a juvenile was turning left out of the fairgrounds onto North Maple Street. A 1999 Honda Civic driven by William C. Richardson, 38, of North Maple Street, was northbound on North Maple Street and struck the Honda Fit. Area residents are being asked to give a group of local soldiers an appropriate send off. Battery C of the Ohio National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, stationed at the armory in Marysville is being deployed this week. Officials from the Ohio National Guard said the unit is deploying to Europe and “will provide enhanced air defense capability in support of U.S. European Command, as part of the European Deterrence Initiative.” The group will help train other air defense units in Europe and could have some on-call orders for emergencies in Europe. School and law enforcement officials are investigating a potential threat made at the Marysville Early College High School (ECHS). A Westerville man is dead following a workplace accident Thursday. The Union County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed Rodney C. Hickman, 53, of Westerville, was pronounced dead Thursday at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. “Based on our investigation, it appears this was an accident,” said Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton. While sales of Honda’s flagship car are slipping, company official say they expect a record year in total sales. According to numbers from Honda, sales of the Accord are down 14.1 percent through August. In January, the 2018 Accord was named the North American Car of the Year. Sales of the sedan have now dropped for 10 straight months. Total sales for American Honda, which include all Honda and Acura vehicles, are down just 1.3 percent for the year. A Delaware man has been charged with raping a girl he was supposed to be protecting. A Union County Grand Jury has indicted Dwayne Allen Slone, 33, of 370 Eastwood Ave., Delaware. Slone is charged with five counts of rape, 15 counts of sexual battery, 12 counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and one count each of gross sexual imposition, intimidation and possession of criminal tools. According to court documents, between July and October 2017, Slone repeatedly raped and abused a then 14-year-old girl. Jerome Township officials are talking about commercial and residential growth. At Monday night’s meeting of the board of trustees, officials said they were leery of a company that had showed interest in the area. Stambaugh, 40, of 1202 Montclair Ct., Marysville. Stambaugh is charged with one count each of theft, receiving stolen property and safecracking.
