Marysville children will have the opportunity to participate in Trick-or-Treat this year. Union County officials are using CARES Act funding to pay for a variety of items, including a possible homeless shelter. Union County received about $852,000 through the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund. Earlier this year, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act established the $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund to provide payments to state, local and tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. A Springfield woman has been charged for her alleged role in the overdose death of a local man. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Amanda Stigall, 31, of Springfield, charging her with one count each of involuntary manslaughter and trafficking in drugs, two counts of corrupting another with drugs and three counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound. Earlier this year Stigall was indicted on drug trafficking charges and her boyfriend, James William Walden IV, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jarrod D. Spurlock. Just days after being sentenced to community control for a drug offense, a Marysville man was arrested for drugs. The Union County Grand Jury recently indicted Edward Paver, 32, of 12179 U.S. 36, Marysville, charging him with two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, along with one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, having weapons under disability and tampering with evidence. Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that in November, Paver was sentenced to five years of community control on a drug conviction. A local man has been indicted after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend on back-to-back days. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Christopher Coffenberger, 32, of 429 S. Maple St., Marysville. Coffenberger is charged with one count of domestic violence. A piece of land in Mill Valley is going back to the developer. In 2018, Pulte Homes, developer for the neighborhood, deeded two parcels, totaling 1.97 acres, in the Mill Valley North subdivision where the pool is located to the city.
